Oak Tree Canyon Trailhead Development
Oak Tree Canyon Trailhead - one of the closest access points to the Nogales Ranger District, Passage 5 and 6 - will soon be a reality, but we can't do it without your help! The Coronado National Forest will have completed grading, gravel, and compaction prior to our arrival. The first day will be material delivery and site prep for fence, gate and kiosk installation. Where the Arizona National Scenic Trail passes by the Kentuck Camp Cabin and Headquarters has been the site of humans interacting with nature for more than 10,000 years. Spanning the length of Arizona from Mexico to Utah, the 800+ miles of the Arizona National Scenic Trail features the biological diversity equivalent of hiking from Mexico to Canada! AZT – Passage 5 Trail Maintenance
Please join the Arizona Trail Association for a trail work event on Passage 5 in the scenic Santa Rita Mountains. We'll be meeting just off of Box Canyon Road and the Arizona Trail and hiking approximately half a mile to our work area. The plan is to repair some eroded trail and cut in new drains. Lunches will be provided for those who sign up. It's a great time to experience a beautiful piece of the Arizona Trail!
