Arizona Trail Maintenance in Oracle State Park
Our main trail work involves brushing overgrowth and improving drainage to maintain a sustainable tread for hikers, bikers, and equestrian riders. Due to heavy summer rains, we will be removing vegetation (focusing on catclaw) and improving drainage south of the Hwy 77 parking area at Tiger Mine Road. Please dress defensively (long pants, long sleeves, gloves). Hard hats and tools will be provided by the Arizona Trail Association. AZT Passage 13 – Oracle
Join the Arizona Trail Association and REI in this project to build new trail alignment in Oracle State Park. Volunteers will hike approximately 1/2 a mile with tools to work on a reroute project to bypass a section of trail that has been badly eroded. Work includes brushing, digging in new tread, moving rocks and rehabbing the old trail bed. Volunteers should expect to be on the trail for approx 4-5 hours.
