We need some stalwart and tough volunteers to join us for an epic trail work adventure on the AZT's wilderness bypass in the Santa Catalina Mountains. The Butterfly Trail was seriously impacted by the Bighorn Fire of 2020, and this year's heavy monsoon rains have created overgrowth of vegetation and significant tread issues. Join Wild Arizona in the beautiful Chiricahua Wilderness as we maintain the lower 4 miles of the very popular South Fork Trail, an international birding destination for many people each year. Work will include improving several sections of tread, brushing the trail corridor, and improving/rebuilding multiple drainage crossings. Where the Arizona National Scenic Trail passes by the Kentuck Camp Cabin and Headquarters has been the site of humans interacting with nature for more than 10,000 years. Join us in keeping one of the last remaining perennial rivers in Arizona healthy! We meet up at the Riverside Park in Clifton with a welcome and safety briefing and then we split into groups and head to priority clean up areas. It is recommended that you wear sunscreen, wide brimmed hat, closed toe shoes, and a water bottle.
