Past Opportunity: Announcing the 2020 RSVP Competition Notice of Funding Opportunity

Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is releasing the Fiscal Year 2020 Senior Corps RSVP Competition Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). For decades, Senior Corps RSVP has engaged older Americans in volunteer service that meets national and community needs and delivers lasting, meaningful results. With this NOFO, CNCS intends to fund successful applicants that increase the impact of volunteers age 55 and older who provide volunteer service in response to local community needs.

Eligible Applicants

The following entities, including those that are current CNCS grantees, are eligible to apply: public or private nonprofit organizations (including faith-based and other community organizations); institutions of higher education; government entities within states or territories (e.g. cities, counties); government-recognized veteran service organizations; labor organizations; partnerships and consortia; and Indian Tribes.

Timeline

  • Notice of Intent to Apply: Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a Notice of Intent to Apply. The Notice of Intent to Apply should be completed via Survey Monkey no later than 5:00 PM Eastern, Friday, August 30, 2019.
  • Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM Eastern, Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Successful applicants will be notified in mid-February, 2020.

Funding Priorities

Senior Corps RSVP volunteers help organizations expand services, build capacity, develop partnerships, leverage resources, create sustainable projects, and recruit and manage other volunteers. Grant funding partially covers expenses to operate a Senior Corps RSVP project such as staffing, supplies, volunteer stations, and training of staff and members.

This Senior Corps RSVP NOFO prioritizes grant-making in the six focus areas identified by the Serve America Act of 2009 and in alignment with the CNCS Strategic Plan:Disaster Services; Economic Opportunity; Education; Environmental Stewardship; Healthy Futures; and Veterans and Military Families.

Within the six focus areas, Senior Corps funding priorities include:

  • Evidence-Based Program Implementation
  • Access to Care – Opioid Abuse
  • Aging in Place – Elder Justice
  • Aging in Place – Independent Living
  • Economic Opportunity – Workforce Development
  • Education – Intergenerational Programming
  • Disaster Services
  • Veterans and Military Families

Past Opportunity: Stewardship Training

Arizona Wilderness Coalition & Friends of the Verde River Stewardship Training – February 16 – 17, 2019

The Arizona Wilderness Coalition in collaboration with the Friends of the Verde River is excited to announce a special hands-on experience that will introduce you to the concept of wilderness stewardship. Join them for this two-day event in Prescott National Forest’s beautiful Cedar Bench Wilderness.

You will learn about and discuss:

  • topics surrounding the history and laws governing Wilderness
  • the seven leave no trace principles
  • how to properly identify problems areas and execute maintenance
  • river monitoring
  • becoming a volunteer
  • and much more!

This training course is exactly what you need to help grow your skill set and understand the value and importance of stewardship of Arizona’s Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers.

Come prepared for both classroom discussion and hands-on training as you spend a night under the stars putting your new skills into practice.

Past Opportunity: The Conservation Alliance Grant

The Conservation Alliance is a group of outdoor businesses that supports efforts to protect specific wild places for their habitat and recreation values.

Before applying for funding, an organization must first be nominated by one of our member companies . Click here for a list of members. Members nominate organizations by completing and submitting a nomination form. We provide our members with a link to the nomination form in early April and October.  We will then send each nominated organization a request for proposal (RFP) instructing them how to submit a full request. We accept grant requests up to $50,000. Please review our funding criteria before seeking a nomination. Please contact only one member per funding cycle for nomination.

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT PROPOSALS FROM ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE NOT FIRST NOMINATED.

The North Face Explore Fund: Enabling New Explorers

ENABLING NEW EXPLORERS

Introducing underrepresented communities to outdoor adventures, in potentially new and interesting ways, is core to this program category. We want to work with nonprofits that are helping change the narrative of outdoor exploration. Ideal programs are working towards that goal in ways that could include teaching independence and self-awareness through outdoor adventures, demonstrating partnership and trust through outdoor activities, and developing outdoor leaders through innovative programing and trips to public lands. If your program seeks to develop new outdoor adventurers, this category is for you.

FUNDING

A total of $500,000 is available for funding. Applicants may apply for up to $25,000 in grant funding and a minimum of $5,000. In rare cases, The North Face may award more than $25,000 to specific projects. Whether grants are awarded and the amounts of any such awarded grants are within the sole discretion of The North Face.

The North Face Explore Fund: Protecting Our Environment

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Projects large and small in scale are vital for protecting our ecosystems and our ability to continue to enjoy them. Ideal programs think creatively about engaging new and diverse communities in environmental work and can share tangible outcomes. Potential projects might address needs for new trails or forests, or larger topics such as climate change on public lands or in cities. Organizations that work with new technologies and programmatic approaches to protecting our environment are encouraged to apply. If your program focuses more on environmental education in the outdoors, please complete the Enabling New Explorers application.
