Kentucky Camp Volunteer Day
March 9, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 2:00 pm
FreeHello Friends,
Our next volunteer day at Kentucky Camp is coming up this Friday, March 9th. We plan to be on-site at about 8:30AM. We have a number of fun projects lined-up:
1) Apply adobe coating to the Gold Processing Building. This coating helps prevent erosion of the historic adobe bricks from the wind and rain. On-the-job training will be provided for this simple and fun project.
2) Replace wood trim in the Gold Processing Building. This is some finish-up work from last year’s reflooring project. We’ll be installing the last odd-shaped floorboard, baseboards and door frame casing boards. Basic carpentry skills are appreciated but not required.
3) Apply metal preservative to some test patches on the historic gold mining water nozzle.
4) Begin cleaning-out tool room. Identify items to be thrown out or sold.
Bring a sack lunch. we should finish-up about 1PM.
With our new “public friendly” volunteer rules, please feel free to bring friends, family or anyone that might have an interest. There is no need to be a member of Friends of Kentucky Camp in order to participate.
There will be the usual carpool leaving for Kentucky Camp from Tucson at 7:30am from the Starbucks at the southwest corner of Kolb and 22nd…. contact Mark at doumas56@gmail.com or 520 990-8152 (voice and text) to let us know if you want to participate in the carpool.
