Second Saturday Buffelgrass Pull
September 9, 2018 @ 7:00 am - 11:00 am
FreeCome join Saguaro National Park to remove invasive buffelgrass from our Rincon Mountain District location (Saguaro East) Saturday, 9/8/2018 at 7:00 am. Meet at the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center (3693 S. Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85730).
Please follow signs to park in the gravel lot, then walk to the front of the visitor center where we will gather. Volunteers will be working off trail removing buffelgrass accompanied by Park staff. Tools and gloves will be provided. The event will end at 11:00 am. Carpooling to the Park is highly encouraged!
Participants should come prepared with long pants, close-toed shoes (hiking boots suggested), a hat, eye protection, sun protection, plenty of water (at least 2 liters), and a snack. Those who are not sufficiently prepared may be turned away. Expect up to a 20 minute hike to the work site over moderately challenging terrain.
All participants who have not already filled out volunteer paperwork this fiscal year will need to fill out our forms (photo release and OF 301A) prior to beginning work or riding in a government vehicle. Forms will be provided upon arrival.
We continue to pull a diverse group of enthusiastic, hard working volunteers to get out and make a difference for our unique Sonoran Desert landscape and the native species that depend on it. Looking forward to seeing you at the park!
