Butterfly Trail Transformation Project #3

In conjunction with the USFS, Summit Hut, and thanks to a grant from Mountain Hardware, we will be working to rehab the south end of the Butterfly Trail, part of the AZT Pusch Ridge Wilderness Bypass Route.

We will plan to hike in from the Butterfly Trailhead toward Novio Spring, about 2.5 miles with 1800’ of elevation change, to work back toward the intersection of Butterfly Trail and Crystal Spring Trail. Work includes stabilizing trailtread where possible, removing, rebuilding, or rehabbing around rock obstacles, heavy brushing to remove overgrowth from seasonal rains on the North slope, and re-benching trailtread where the backslope has shifted down the mountain.
