Do you enjoy getting out into nature and birding? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge and skills with others? Would you be interested in volunteering as a bird walk guide at Tumacácori National Historical Park during the fall/winter? Bird walks are scheduled from January through April on Saturdays. Volunteer bird walk leaders/guides walk on foot throughout the mission grounds and Santa Cruz River riparian areas within Tumacácori NHP. Estimated walking distance is approximately 2-3 miles, mostly on unimproved trails. These programs are intended for birders of all skill levels, the goal is to work as a team and learn from each other. Tumacácori seeks volunteers who are capable of helping park visitors develop the skills to identify a variety of bird species based on visual characteristics, flight pattern, and behavior.

Bird walk schedule (tentative):
– Weekly on Saturday in October
– No bird walks scheduled in November & December
– Weekly on Saturday from January and April

Housing within the park is not available.
