Buffelgrass Removal Catalina State Park

We may see wildflowers as we hike a mile and a half up the 50 Year Trail to a large buffelgrass patch surrounding a magnificent stand of saguaros. Make room for more wildflowers and save our saguaros from invasive and flammable buffelgrass with a great group of folks that enjoy the outdoors and our Sonoran Desert landscape. We supply the gloves and digging tools. You get into the park for free. Where: Equestrian Center parking lot (park on left side by horse corrals, meet at picnic tables) What: Dig Buffelgrass near the 50 Year Trail. Hike time will be approx. 30 minutes uphill. Wear: Sturdy shoes, long pants, hats Bring: 2 liters of water, a snack, sunscreen Extra: Win a baby saguaro in our raffle!

February is “Save Our Saguaros” month in the Tucson area. We are saving saguaros from invasive, flammable buffelgrass. Join the Buffel Slayers on Saturday, February 1st and get this month jump-started! Spend a morning, save a saguaro! Work with a fun and lively group along the 50 Year Trail and do your part! We supply the gloves and digging tools. You get into the park for free.
