Pollinators in the Patagonia Mountains

October 20, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Join Tucson Audubon staff in installing a large pollinator garden and 10 new Arizona Walnut trees at a vineyard at the mouth of Corral Canyon in the Patagonia. The site is about 1.5 hrs from Tucson on the eastern edge of the Patagonia Mountains. We may even have the opportunity to do a bit of work on the stream that will connect to the large pond we created there for native fish this past summer. We’ll be installing milkweeds for monarch and queen butterflies, a variety of other butterfly-specific larval plants as well as nectar producing plants that attract a wide variety of butterflies. Have no fear, though, we won’t be ignoring hummingbirds and other feathered pollinators – we’ll have plenty of plants for them too. And, not to be forgotten, we’ll be installing 10 walnut trees which host some of the favorite bug-snacks for trogons and cuckoos!
