Pusch Ridge Wilderness Volunteer Vacation
November 6, 2018 @ 7:00 am - November 9, 2018 @ 5:00 pm
FreeThe Arizona Trail Association has received a grant from the National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance to work on the Arizona Trail as it travels through the Pusch Ridge Wilderness in the Santa Catalina Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest. This is an area of unexpected isolation and beauty – only a short hike from the edge of Tucson, but a world away from the hub-bub of the city.
This event includes 4 days of hard work, great people and amazing food in the wilderness just outside your back door!
Details for this event are still in the works, but we do know this much:
• Hike in November 6, hike out November 9. (The perfect escape from the post-election chaos!)
• We will backpack from the Gordon Hirabayshi trailhead to establish a basecamp at Sycamore Reservoir (approx. 3.25 miles, 800′ elevation gain). This is a idyllic spot with huge cottonwood and sycamore trees as well as perennial running water.
• We will work on the AZT as it travels west from the reservoir (northbound) toward East Fork Sabino Canyon.
Food, tools and training will be provided for all days of the event. The setting may be remote, but the hospitality will be top notch!
• Our hope is to have equestrian support to transport tools and food to the basecamp so our volunteers can just hike in and begin work.
Register and save your spot today. Our Volunteer Vacations are growing in popularity because they provide such an amazing opportunity to get out, get dirty and create community.
