Save our Saguaros
March 1, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am
FreeHave you hiked Pima Canyon lately? This beautiful area is a loved hiking spot and important viewscape in the Catalina Mountains. Sadly, buffelgrass is covering much of the area. This invasive grass threatens our treasured saguaros, desert tortoises, and other desert flora and fauna. If the grass continues to thrive, it creates fire risks for the plants and animals as well as the surrounding homes. ?
Help us beat buffelgrass! Enjoy a beautiful day in the Catalina Mountains while helping with our conservation efforts. We will meet at 8 a.m. in the parking area for Pima Canyon Trail, at the end of Magee Rd. Participants need to wear sturdy shoes, long pants, sleeves, and a hat. You will also need water and snacks. We will provide gloves, digging bars, and rock hammers.
BONUS: You may see wild bighorn sheep! We’ve seen them the past three times! ?
Address: Pima Canyon Trailhead (end of Magee Road).
