A History of Carr House 1939 to the Present
October 20, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
FreeJoin the Friends of the Huachuca Mountains at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 20th, for a presentation on the history of Carr House. Rosemary Snapp, Carr Canyon resident and historian for the Friends, has spent nearly 20 years researching the history of Carr Canyon and the many interesting people who have lived there. This program will focus on the builders of Carr House, Virginia Moson and Cicero Martin. Rosemary will trace the history of the house from 1939 to 1996, when the Friends of the Huachuca Mountains was founded and, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, refurbished Carr House and opened it as a visitor information center. The program will conclude with a review of the events and activities the Friends have accomplished since 1996.
For safety reasons occupancy in Carr House is limited to 49 people. In the past, the audiences for some popular programs have exceeded that number. Please arrive early to be sure you get a seat, as additional visitors over the limit will not be admitted while the program is going on. Overflow guests will be invited to watch a live stream of the program at our outside picnic area.
Carr House is located on Carr Canyon Road, 2.1 miles from the intersection of Highway 92 at the Mesquite Tree Restaurant.
