Butterfly Trail Transformation Project 2

October 20, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

In conjunction with the USFS, Summit Hut, and thanks to a grant from Mountain Hardware, we will be working to rehab the south end of the Butterfly Trail, part of the AZT Pusch Ridge Wilderness Bypass Route.

We will plan to hike in from Palisades toward Westfall Knobb, about 1.5 miles with 800’ of elevation change, to work back toward the intersection of Butterfly Trail and Kellog Mountain Trail. Work includes heavy brushing to remove overgrowth from seasonal rains on the North slope and re-benching trailtread where the backslope has shifted down the mountain. When we’re done it will feel like we’ve built all new trail for hikers, mountain bicyclists, equestrian, and trail runners to enjoy. Be prepared to hike between 3-4 miles at high elevation, carrying tools, and rehabbing 1 mile of long lost trail as we go.

Don’t miss a beautiful day on the mountain! Lunches will be provided.
