National Trail Day Volunteering on the AZT

June 4, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join the ATA in celebrating American Hiking Society’s National Trail Day June 4th by helping build a piece of the Arizona Trail on the Temporal Gulch Reroute.

We will meet at 8:00am at the Apache Spring Trailhead off of Gardner Canyon Road we will carpool to a second trailhead access to which required high clearance and possibly 4wd. Expect to hike between 2 and 3 miles over the course of the day, carrying tools over rough terrain. There’s many different tasks to undertake, which means there’s something for every level of fitness and experience. This is the perfect chance to learn more about what makes trail work such a rewarding volunteer experience!

Personal protective equipment (PPEs) and tools are provided. However – we recommend that if you have your own work gloves or eye protection (sunglasses or goggles) that you bring it along. We will be working out in the sun on the trail – proper skin and sun protection (long pants/sleeves and sunscreen) is strongly recommended. Sturdy, closed toe shoes such as hiking boots are required. Participants should bring at least 2 liters of water in a backpack or other carrying apparatus. Water will not be available at the trailhead. Lunch will be provided to all those who register.

COVID Note:

The ATA asks that volunteers to refrain from participation in any AZT activity if they have symptoms of or believe they may have been recently exposed to COVID-19. Please monitor your own health regularly and let us know if any thing changes prior to or immediately after the event.
