Wilderness Volunteers Buffelgrass Removal
Join Wilderness Volunteers for a week-long service project that will focus on removing invasive buffelgrass and fountain grass in Saguaro National Park. Using digging tools such as picks, rock hammers, and rock bars, we'll combat these noxious weeds that fill in the open spaces in the Sonoran Desert, crowding out native plants and competing for nutrients, water, and sunshine, and pose a huge fire risk.

The Weeds-Free Trail Program at Saguaro National Park was organized in February of 2008. The goal of this program is to monitor the trails, mapping and removing exotic plants and fulfilling the goal of “Early Detection, Rapid Response”. Oracle Work Event
Come and join the camaraderie of working on the trail with fellow volunteers from the SaddleBrooke Hiking Club. Generally, the work is light, and involves clipping, brushing, raking, pruning, building cairns and developing/clearing erosion control devices. Bring along gloves, hat, water, and pruners. Other tools, if needed, will be provided. The work session usually lasts about 3 hours. Hike 3-4 miles. We will be departing from SaddleBrooke at 7:30 a.m. and returning before noon. Oracle Ridge Trail Day
Join Summit Hut, Tucson Backpackers and the ATA for a day of trail work on the Arizona National Scenic Trail. We'll be working at the top of Mt. Lemmon on the Oracle Ridge Passage 12 clearing brush, repairing tread and restoring drainage.
