Wilderness Volunteers Buffelgrass Removal

Join Wilderness Volunteers for a week-long service project that will focus on removing invasive buffelgrass and fountain grass in Saguaro National Park. Using digging tools such as picks, rock hammers, and rock bars, we'll combat these noxious weeds that fill in the open spaces in the Sonoran Desert, crowding out native plants and competing for nutrients, water, and sunshine, and pose a huge fire risk.

We need some stalwart and tough volunteers to join us for an epic trail work adventure on the AZT's wilderness bypass in the Santa Catalina Mountains. The Butterfly Trail was seriously impacted by the Bighorn Fire of 2020, and this year's heavy monsoon rains have created overgrowth of vegetation and significant tread issues.
